Chairman’s Annual report
In In a vast number of ways this last season has undoubtedly been the most successful season that the club has ever had. The success of youth and mini-soccer on the football field, the re - appearance of the men’s team and the return of Simon’s vets team to the Lowfields are just a few of the obvious highlights. Oh yes, and on the way the finest set of changing rooms in the area just happened to appear. Many of the thank yous have been stated, but everyone here can be massively proud of the part that they have played in getting us to where we are today. The testament to the distance travelled is the approach that we have received from Rushcliffe Ladies to play under a joint Barrowby/Rushcliffe banner as they strive to rejuvenate their club, make use of our facilities and bring with them some management input hopefully on the committee in due course to help strengthen our club. I should also mention that as part of our 5 year Football Development Plan that girls football was an integral part of it – well hopefully this is one tick in the box.
However I do believe we have reached a point in our development where we need to take stock of where we have grown to. As ever money becomes an issue, we need to steer our way thorough electricity and gas costs, caretaker costs ,groundsman fees etc as well as making sure we have sufficient equipment to provide a quality level of training and match play to make Barrowby Football Club an enjoyable experience for all. However with a prudent approach this year as we discover these costs I am sure that we will soon be moving towards another grant for pitch improvement.
All I would ask is that we as stakeholders in this Football Club business that we maintain the reputation of this club as a quality organisation, that we respect our players, parents and finally this building and its surroundings.
Finally – big thanks to the officeholders for the past season. John has done a tremendous job yet again, despite failing to keep with play. Simon over the past few years has done a sterling job as vice-chairman combining the roles of web guru, football manager, kit and equipment supplier as well as predicting scores for the Pools Panel. Derek has again helped to keep the club’s finances under the tightest of control and once again thanks to all the managers who have made Barrowby FC the best club in the area by a mile.
Following the Chairman’s report a vote was taken on whether to admit Rushcliffe Ladies team and Under 16’s team into the club. The proposal for them to be admitted was carried unanimously. |

| 31/08/2008 - Barrowby Lowfields Pavilion now open |
|
Work at the Lowfields at Barrowby is now complete with a first class pavilion built following a project involving Barrowby FC, Barrowby Parish Council and Barrowby Allsports culminating in the official opening on Wednesday July 16th 2008.
The exciting new sports building comprises four new changing rooms, a function room, kitchen plus facilities for officials and spectators which replace the previous timber changing block.
This has been built with the help of a £288,000 grant from the Football Foundation, the UK’s largest sports charity, which is funded by the Premier League, The FA and Government. Barrowby Parish Council, Barrowby FC and Barrowby Allsports provided additional funding towards the scheme.
The increased capacity at the new sports site will enable more local people to enjoy access to regular sports. It also boasts improved parking and community facilities.
The Football Foundation is dedicated to revitalising the grass roots of the game, constructing modern football facilities, developing football as a force for social cohesion and as a vehicle for education in communities throughout the country. Funded by the Premier League, The Football Association, Sport England and the Government, the Football Foundation is the nation’s largest sports charity with a £45m budget going straight into the heart of football.
Barrowby Parish Council chairwoman, Pam Bosworth said: “This new pavilion is a massive step forward for the sports teams that use the Lowfields and the new facility will be used by local people throughout the year.
“The old pavilion was dilapidated and unsafe, but now with the help of the Football Foundation we have an excellent new pavilion that will benefit everybody using the facility.”
“The Lincolnshire FA have also been key to helping us make this new sports site a reality, as has the contributions of our funding partners – the Premier League, The Football Association and Government.”
The Football Foundation has funded more than 4,800 projects worth over £630m since it was launched from Number Ten by Rt Hon Tony Blair MP and Kevin Keegan in July 2000. www.footballfoundation.org.uk |

Foxes Win the U12 League and Cup Double
Barrowby Foxes U12's finished the season in style, by beating Ketton 4 goals to 1 in the league to become league champions with one game remaining, and then followed this on Tuesday April 3rd at the Meres Stadium by beating Gonerby Cougars 5 - 0 in the U12 Knockout Cup Final to complete the Double.
This is a superb effort and great credit must go to the whole squad of 14 players, who have played brilliantly all season.

Chairman’s Annual Report 2005/06
On the football field this last season has undoubtedly been the most successful season that the club has ever had. The GYFL finals and the League presentation night was a wonderful demonstration of Barrowby Football Club footballing prowess. It is almost concerning as to quite how this can be beaten in the future.
However I do believe we have reached a point of consolidation. Financially the club is stronger than ever which is a great testament to the organisation and efforts of the managers involved. I believe it is now time to spend some of this money through procuring a significantly more vandal proof building to ensure that we can offer the basic toilet facilities without the continued problems of almost weekly vandalism. From a personal point of view, this has been the biggest disappointment over a period of time that has frequently made me wonder why I bother. I should also add that the help of people like Trevor, John and Simon amongst others to help with repairs has been invaluable.
Kid’s football would be great if it wasn’t for the parents! What does that say? I am concerned that parent power is making the role of the volunteer manager more and more difficult and don’t really know what the answer is, except that all of us must be confident to make our policies clear on training, substitutions, selection and strategy. If managers do that, any parent who chooses to go elsewhere – well good luck to them!
Finally – big thanks to the officeholders for the past season. John has done a tremendous job yet again, despite failing to keep with play! (last managers vs parents game). Derek has again helped to keep the club’s finances under the tightest of control and once again thanks to all the managers who have made Barrowby FC the best club in the area by a mile

| 27/08/2006 - MK Dons Train on Barrowby FC Pitches |
| Football League Division 2 side, MK Dons, dropped into Grantham on Friday 25 August enroute to their game at Boston the following day. Barrowby FC made their pitches available for them to train on, on Friday and Saturday, although very grateful, Martin Allen was unble to sign on any Barrowby players to use at Boston that afternoon. He needn't have worried as MK Dons won 1 - 0, all thanks to Barrowby FC and the extra training The Dons put in. |
