After a frosty Sunday morning we arrive in Lincoln to a pleasant afternoon, the afternoon kick off has helped the pitch to thaw, and in fact is in very good condition. With no Jack Mc, Josh W or Frazer, we are down to a squad of 12 today. Oliver wins the toss, and we kick off. We quickly get at Ermine and cause them some early problems, after a strong Jack F run and shot which is well saved. Early pressure wins us a corner, Ian takes, and Josh K head for goal, but his effort is cleared off the line. Ermine then have a strong attack, Kyle E shows good strength and forces the attacker out wide, the attacker manages to cross the ball, but it is safely caught by Nathan. With all the lads getting early touches, we then create another chance, Oliver wins a tackle, plays the ball forward to Sam, and he makes a through pass to Ben who has a shot that goes just wide. The lads play some good passages of play, moving the ball across the pitch, we attack the Ermine box again, Ben lays a ball to Ian, Ian hits a looping shot that strikes the bar, the rebound falls to Kyle S but his shot goes just wide. Every man is in the game, Ross reads an Ermine attack well, and makes an excellent tackle and clearance. We create a number of good chances until we finally score, a well delivered cross by Josh K is met by the head of Ben W, who heads the ball into the goal. 0.1. With a goal finally scored the lads turn up a gear, good link up play between Jack F and Kyle S enables Sam to have a shot, but it goes just over the bar. We finally score a second goal, after a good throw in, Jack f crosses an early ball, Sam touches the ball onto the far post where Ian runs onto it and scores. 0.2. We continue to dominate in all areas. On the break of half time, arms are raised and words exchanged between Oliver and one of the "frustrated" Ermine team. The ref sees it, and has to have word two teams before the break. Second Half. The second half starts well for us; picking up where we left off, a good strong run into box allows Ben to score within two minutes of the restart. 0.3. We continue to take the game to ermine, excellent performances from within the team help us to create more chances, chances are missed, but fortunately the lads are in a "creative" mood today. Ian has a strong run, beats his man and shoots the ball at the keeper, the keeper spills it, Sam follows in well, and scores. 0.4. From the restart, Ermine make a strong attack which finishes with a good near post save by the Nathan. Not to be phased, we then produce the move of the game, Excellent pass and move between, Josh K, Ian and Sam which opens up the defence a treat, unfortunately the attack is broken down, but this echoes the level of confidence that we are playing with today. Good work in midfield again allows Ian to run with the ball, he passes his man, attacks the box and shoots past the keeper to score. 0.5. The lads continue to produce chances, Sam has a good shot well saved by the Keeper, and Jack F makes a strong run and crosses to Ben whose shot is just wide. We play the game to the final whistle, again at the whistle; words are exchanged, but nothing more than that. Ermine lads are obviously upset with their performance today. Match Summary: For a squad of 12 to put a performance like that together, is excellent. Created more chances than ever before, which is good, but against a more potent team, we shall have to be more clinical. MOM: Sam, worked hard all game, and made some excellent passes. Ian's Thought of the Day: You get to feeling that sometimes the ref is a bit biased to "his" team he is reffing for. This was apparent when the ref blew his whistle for a foul. Our lads asked the ref "who Too ref ", the ref replied "us".
